Procedure to Root Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi Only Version:
- First, you need to download Pre Rooted Honeycomb 3.2.2 Firmware Zip Package from here and then you need to copy the same to your Motorola XOOM’s SD Card and then turn Off the Motorola Xoom tablet.
- Now, you need to boot the tablet so as to enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by Holding the Volume Down button when the Motorola Logo is shown when the device is booted normally.
- Now, just in case if the device boots in the normal mode, then reboot the process. Once you are into the recovery mode, you need to press the Volume Up and Volume Down keys.
- Now, you need to select the option of “Backup & Restore” > “Backup” so as to create a backup of the current firmware. So, this will Nandroid backup the contents in your Motorola Xoom tablet and then navigate to “Wipe data / factory reset” and to select press the Power button. Please ensure that you are not on any of the custom rom firmware, if at all you are on any of the custom rom firmware then you need to clear any additional sort of lag fixes if any installed.
- After selecting the confirmation, you need to select the same which will delete all the user data which is there in your phone memory so as to avoid any conflict while the device is being rooted.
- After this, in the recovery mode itself, you will find an option of “Flash Zip from SD Card”. Now, you need to select “Choose Zip from sd card” to select the zip file which you have placed in your Motorola Xoom Wi Fi only version.
- After selecting the Zip file, it will take around 10 minutes to finish the rooting process. Once the device is rooted you need to select the option of “reboot system now” so as to reboot the device.
- Last but not the least, if you are unable to access the internet then you need to check with the APN Settings and also you need to restore the backup just in case if any data is lost. Please note that just in a rare case if the rooting doesn’t happen due to any reason then you need to ensure that the file is correctly downloaded and placed in the device.
