How to Root Samsung Galaxy EPIC 4G D700 on Gingerbread 2.3.x Firmware

Procedure to Root Samsung Epic 4G on Gingerbread 2.3 firmware:

  • First up you will have to download the Rooting Package for Epic 4G where in you will get two files after downloading the zip file. Please note that in the process of firmware update you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.

  • The two files which you will get after extraction are the Odin and the tar file. You can also refer to the below mentioned screenshot for the files which are there in the zip file.Extracted Files Epic 4G
  • Now, after this you will have to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the download mode. The download mode in the Samsung Epic 4G can be entered by long pressing 1 and then press the power button after which you will get a yellow triangle. Now as soon as you see the yellow triangle, you will have to connect the phone with the help of USB to the computer while keeping the Odin as open in the computer. Now, you need to open the “Odin” executable file which you can find from the extracted files in your computer.

  • Next, upon entering into the download mode, you will now have to connect the phone with the help of USB cable to the computer. Please note that you will have to use the USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase of Samsung Epic 4G.

  • Now, click on the PDA tab and select the file “acs-eb30-clockwork-epic-touch-4g-sep-20-4-00-pm” which you can find it from the extracted files. After double checking the same, you will have to proceed by clicking on the “Start” tab in the Odin.

  • After this you will see that the process of rooting will begin and within a time of 2 -3 minutes the whole process of rooting gets finished. So, once the firmware updation process is done, you will be prompted to enter the language selection followed by the Google account details so that you can access the Market place as well as the Gmail account.
