How to Root SONY Ericsson Xperia Arc Android Smart Phone – Easy Tutorial

Procedure to Root SONY Ericsson Xperia Arc till Gingerbread 2.3.4 Firmware:

  • Before proceeding, you need to check the build number which you can check the same from the path “Menu KEY > Settings > About Phone > Model Number and Build Number” after which it should show the version as [4.0.1.A.0.283] Global firmware.
  • First up you need to Download the Pre Rooted System Image of Android 2.3.4 [4.0.1.A.0.283] from here to your computer. After this, you need to download “fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar” from here to your computer.
  • Up next you need to turn off your device and extract the fastboot rar file in your computer and you will get two folders which are “fastboot” and “usb driver”. Now, you will see that in the “fastboot” folder you need to cut and paste the ftf file which you have downloaded in the first step.
  • In your turned Off phone, you need to press the “Menu Key” and then holding the same, connect the phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable.
  • After this, you will see that the LED Light near the USB cable will turn blue and if it doesn’t then you will have to repeat the step.
  • Now, in your computer, open the “fastboot” folder which you have extracted in the above step.
  • Press “Shift” key in your computer and Right click anywhere on the empty screen inside the fastboot folder to select “Open command window here” from the menu.
  • In the command prompt, you need to enter the below mentioned command,

fastboot flash system LT15i_4.0.1.A.0.283_Generic_Global_system.img

  • After entering the command, press enter and once the command is finished, you will see that the “Finished” message when completed. Now, all you need to do is to just disconnect the device connected from the computer and then turn ON your phone.
  • Now, you need to open the “Superuser” application in your phone, if it’s not there then you need to download and install the same from the Android Market Place.

Note: In an unfortunate event if the process is interrupted then you will have to repeat the whole procedure from the start so as to again successfully update the phone.

You can now restore all the data which you have backed up with the help of above mentioned steps. Once the command is processed successfully, the device will be installed with the latest rooted firmware.
