Gaining the root access is no hard process for several smartphones, and it is of no use if you are not taking any advantage of it, rooting isn’t really a needed process unless you are thinking to have some custom firmware versions for the device. The Micromax Canvas 4 device comes with some excellent specifications and is one of the best devices from the company in the current market, but for you to take full advantage of the powering and the hardware it includes, rooting the device is a wise thing to do, although you have to know that this would void the warranty provided by the company.
The rooting procedure for the Micromax Canvas 4 rooting will need the following things ready before you do the actual procedure of rooting. Check the list below and keep the needed stuff ready:
- Micromax Canvas 4
- Canvas 4 Drivers (the drivers usually get installed when you connect the device to the computer)
- Windows laptop / PC
- MicroUSB cable to connect the device to the computer

Prerequisites for rooting Canvas 4
- Keep the Canvas 4 charged with at least 50% battery
- Enable the USB debugging mode by going into the Settings > Development section
- Take a backup of the personal settings, SMS, Contacts and Call Log
Rooting Procedure
- To begin with, connect the Micromax Canvas 4 to your computer / laptop using the MicroUSB cable and check whether the drivers are installed
- Extract the rooting tool zip file on the computer which you downloaded from the given above link, and there in the extracted folder, open the RunMe.bat file
- The file would show a command prompt section where a set of onscreen instructions is to be followed
- During the process, you would be shown a message “Please Enter a valid number (1 to x)” where to root the phone, you need to enter “1” and the tool would continue with the process of rooting
- The rooting process would make the phone restart for a couple times, before the app drawer showing the SuperSu app in the list. That is what would confirm that rooting has gone well. If you don’t see this, try to do the entire process again.
You can even download and open the “Root Checker” application from the Play Store to check whether the device is rooted or not.
How to Unroot the Micromax Canvas 4
There isn’t always a need for the root and some time, you might want to unroot the phone which again isn’t a very hard procedure to do because the developers of the rooting tool we used above, has made the unrooting possible through the same tool, where you can do that by following the steps as below.
- From the above rooting procedure, follow the step 1 to 3 as given in the same way
- In the fourth step, when you see the message to enter a valid number, type x and hit enter and that would remove the root access from the device. The device would restart and the SuperSu would be disappearing from the App drawer
And as we said above, installing the Root Checker application and checking for the status of the root would be a better option.
