Procedure to Root Droid 2 on Froyo 2.2 & on Gingerbread 2.3 Firmware:
For Froyo 2.2 Users:
- Assuming that you have downloaded the Rooting Package in your computer you need to extract the same to get Z4Rooting APK file, you now need to connect your phone to the computer and copy the same in your phone. Ensure that you are not placing the file deep into your phone or else it will not be detected in the device.
- Now, open the Z4Root file which you have placed and open the same to install it. After this, all you need to do is to just follow the on screen instructions to root the device. In z4root, select the Permanent Root option to permanently root your device and then you need to reboot the device to confirm this change.
For Gingerbread 2.3 Users:
- Assuming that you have downloaded the Pete’s Motorola Rooting tool from here to your computer, you now need to extract the same in your computer and then connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable.
- Once it’s done, you now need to double click on the “Pete’s Motorola Tool” from the extracted zip file and then click on the “Root My Phone” option to start the process of rooting.
- After this the phone will be restarted and there you go, you have now successfully rooted your device with the help of simple steps. Please note that the Pete’s Motorola Root Tool can also be used to unroot your phone with which you can claim back the lost warranty. Also, you can additionally select the option of “Unroot my Phone” to unroot the device.
Note: At any point of time just in case if the process of firmware update gets stopped due to any reason, all you need to do is restart the process from the start by re inserting the battery.
