Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy GIO S5660 with ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:
- Download ICS Android 4.0.3 Package from here to your computer. Once you download the same, you need to connect your phone to the computer with the help of USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- Now, you need to remove the connected USB cable and turn off the phone so as to enter the device in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Center button + Power Button.
- In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” after which you need to select the ICS 4.0.3 Package which you have placed in the phone.
- So, as soon as all the files are processed one by one in the recovery mode the device will be again be booted up in the recovery mode. The device will take around 20 minutes for updating the device.
- In recovery mode select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” so that this will clear the cache after which select “++++ Go Back ++++” and select “reboot system now” which will restart the Galaxy Gio.
Tip: Restore all the data which you have taken the backup before and also ensure that you have also restored the APN settings which are responsible for accessing the internet. If the device enters in the boot loop mode then you need to again apply the firmware by following the above steps.
- Check whether firmware is updated successfully or not from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will find the version of Android 4.0.3 firmware.
To enjoy the Wi Fi tethering as well as Wired tethering, you need to download and install the respective apk files in your phone by copying these files in your phone and installing them by opening in your device. All you need to do is to just follow the On screen instructions which will be shown as soon as you open these files in your phone.
