Procedure to Update Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Android 4.0 Alpha 7.0 in Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
- So, assuming that you are on the Rooted Firmware of XXJVT, you now need to download and install the ROM Manager application from the Android Market Place to your phone and then you need to flash the Clock Work Mod Recovery in your phone.
- So, once you have successfully installed the CWM in your phone from the ROM Manager, you now need to connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- After this you need to copy the two downloaded files which are “ICS_4.0.1_r1-alpha7.zip” &”CM7FuguMod_20111124_update-i9000.zip” in your phone and ensure that you are not placing these both files deep into any of the folders so as to find the firmware file easily.
- Now, after this you need to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. - In the recovery mode, you need to select the option of “install zip from SD card” and then “choose zip from SD Card” after which you will see the list of files which are there in the phone.
- From the list of files, first you need to select the file which is named as “ICS_4.0.1_r1-alpha7.zip” and then you will have to select the file which is named as “CM7FuguMod_20111124_update-i9000.zip”.
- Once you select the files you will then need to wait for the upgrade process to get completed and then once it gets completed you will either land up again on the recovery mode screen or the phone will be restarted, just in case if the phone gets restarted you will then you will be directly on Ice cream sandwich 4.0 Android version.
- Just in case if you land up in the recovery mode screen, you need to select the option of “++++ Go back ++++” to select the option of “reboot system now” for rebooting the phone. So, as soon as the phone is restarted you will see that the phone will be on the alpha build of Ice Cream Sandwich.
- Please note that just in case if you face any issues after turning the device ON, get into the recovery mode first and then you will have to select the options like “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” after which select the option of “reboot system now” as this will clear out all the data which is there in the cache.
