Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with XWJVZ Gingerbread 2.3.6:
- Download Gingerbread XWJVZ 2.3.6 Gingerbread firmware in your computer and then you need to unzip the same to your desktop so that you can then locate the same easily. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter in the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas. If the password is not prompted then also its alright.
- Match the extracted folder contents with the below mentioned image so as to ensure that all the files are extracted successfully. Please note that even if single file is missing then you need to check with the downloading or extraction of file.
- Now, from the extracted files, open the odin executable file in your computer and turn off the phone so that you can then enter your phone into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- Once entered into the download mode, you now need to connect the phone to the computer while keeping the Odin opened in your computer. As soon as you connect the phone, the ID : COM section will turn Yellow which will mean that all the drivers are successfully updated and you are now ready to proceed with the firmware update.
DANGER: Don’t proceed to the next step if the ID : COM Section doesn’t turn Yellow!
- Now, you will have to click on the below mentioned Options in the Odin and then you need to proceed to the next step.

- Now, click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. Please note that you will have to wait for 3 – 4 minutes till the process of firmware update is completed.
- Now you will have to wait till the phone is rebooted, as soon as the phone gets rebooted, you will then see that the phone will prompt you to enter the Language Settings as well as the Google Account Credentials.
- To check on the firmware has successfully applied or not, you can check the same from the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as XWJVZ 2.3.6 Gingerbread version.
For users facing FORCE CLOSE ISSUES:
- Just in case if you are facing issues like force close errors in your phone then you need to turn off the phone and then you need to enter into the recovery mode.
- Now, turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
