Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9001 with Gingerbread 2.3.5:
- First up download the Galaxy S I9001 Gingerbread 2.3.5 release Zip file to your computer. As soon as you download the same, you need to unzip the same preferably to the desktop in your computer. Please note that in the process of the unzipping you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- As soon as you extract the files you will then see that the extracted folder will contain the files as mentioned in the below screen capture. Please note that even if single file is missing then you need to again re download and unzip the same.
- Now, from the extracted files you will have to open the Odin executable file in your computer and soon after that just turn Off the phone so that you can then enter your phone in the download mode.
- Download mode is basically the safe mode which prevents the phone from encountering with any issues and just in a rare case if the firmware was unable to get updated then you will be automatically switched to the last firmware which was there installed in your phone. To enter into the download mode, you need to press the Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. - Once you enter the download mode, just connect the Samsung Galaxy S Plus GT I9001 phone to the computer with the help of the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. So, once you connect the phone you will see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed with the next step.
- Now, you need to click on the “PDA” tab in the Odin and then select the file which is named as “I9001XXKPG_I9001XENKP1_I9001XXKPF_HOME.tar.md5”. Now, as soon as you select you need to double check the same whether the correct file is selected or not. Once checked you will now need to click on the “Start” tab in the Odin to start the process of firmware update. It will take around 5 – 10 minutes of maximum time to update the firmware.
Note: As soon as the firmware is updated and you see the home screen then you need to now again need to re configure the APN settings to access the data services or the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
- As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, the phone will be restarted automatically and then you will see the home screen in your phone before which you may be prompted to enter the Google Account settings as well as the Language Settings. Now, after this you need to turn Off the phone so that then you can enter into the recovery mode to clear the cache files if there are any in the phone.
- The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Now, in the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
