Procedure to update Gingerbread XXKJ2 2.3.6 on Samsung Galaxy Y Pro B5510:
- Download Gingerbread XXKJ2 2.3.6 Firmware in your computer and then extract the same in your computer. In the process of extraction you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “android” without inverted comas.
- Match the extracted files with the below screen capture, even if single file is missing then you need to check with the extraction or download process.
- Open Odin executable file from the extracted files and turn Off your phone so as to boot the device in the Download Mode.
- The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. To know more, refer to the below Video.
- Once the device is booted in the Download mode, connect the same to the computer with USB cable while keeping Odin opened in your computer.
- After a minute you should be able to see that the ID : COM section in odin will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers are installed successfully and you are ready to proceed to the next step.
Note: If ID : COM doesn’t turn yellow then install Samsung USB Drivers, .net framework and also you need to update the KIES with the latest version so that the missing drivers are installed.
- Click on “PDA” tab in odin and select the file “B5510XXKJ2_B5510OXAKJ2_B5510XXKJ2_HOME.tar.md5” from extracted files. After this click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update.
- It will take around 5 minutes for applying the firmware. Please note that you need to match all the options in ODIN as shown above. Once the firmware is applied successfully, the device will be restarting and then pull out the USB cable once you see the HOME SCREEN.
- Now, turn Off the phone so as to enter into recovery mode so that the cache files can be cleared in the phone.
- The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. In the recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys.
- As soon as the cache files are cleared, select “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose “reboot system now” for restarting the phone. As soon as the phone gets restarted, the device will be on the latest Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware.
You can find out the current firmware from the path “Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version” where you will find the current firmware as Gingerbread 2.3.6 XXKJ2.
