Procedure to update XWKI8 Gingerbread 2.3.5 in Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100:
- Download the Gingerbread 2.3.5 Firmware Zip Package in your computer and then you will have to extract the same. Please note that in the process of unzipping the zip file you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” if prompted without the inverted comas.
- Now, up next you will have to match with the extracted files which are mentioned in the below screen capture. Please note that if at all if there are any files which are missing then you will have to again re download and unzip the same from the above mentioned link. Just in case even a single file is missing then you will have to again download the zip file from the above link and then unzip the same.
- After this, from the extracted files you will have to now open the “Odin” executable file from the extracted files and then you will have to turn off the phone. Please note that you will have to enter into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the download mode. Please note that it’s not recommended to proceed if you are not entering into the download mode.
- So, once you enter into the download mode you will have to connect the phone with the help of USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase while the KIES is opened in the phone. As soon as you connect the phone with the computer, you will see that the ID : COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are now all set to select the files in the Odin.
- Now, after this you will have to select the files in the corresponding options as mentioned in the below list. Please ensure that you have matched all the settings in the KIES as mentioned in the below screen capture and don’t modify the settings or mess up with options apart from the ones which are mentioned below.

- Now, after selecting the files, check with the same and click on the “Start” tab to start the process of firmware update. As soon as you click on the “Start” you will see that the process of the firmware update begins after which you will have to wait till the firmware updates gets done. In the process of firmware update ensure that you are not interrupting the process of firmware update or else you may face issues like phone not turning ON.
- It will take around 10 – 15 minutes for the firmware to get updated and then as soon as the firmware is updated the phone will be rebooted and then you will be prompted to enter the Google account credentials and select the language preferences.
- Now, upon successfully updating the firmware you will see the home screen and then you will have to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Please note that just in case if the phone boots normally then you will have to again repeat the button combination which is mentioned above to enter the recovery mode.
- So, as soon as you enter into the recovery mode you will have to choose options like “Wipe data/factory reset” and also you need to select “Wipe Cache partition” and then reboot your device by selecting “reboot system” now option. So, in this way you can clear out all the cache files which are there in your phone.
