Samsung Galaxy S5 New Edition with 1080p Display & 16MP Camera Announced in Brazil

The South Korean Giant launched the Galaxy S5 back in 2014. We have already seen many variants of the 2014’s flagship launched earlier like Galaxy S5 mini, Galaxy S5 Plus, Galaxy S5 Sport, and Galaxy S5 Active among others. Now, the company has announced yet another variant of the Galaxy S5 dubbed as Galaxy S5 New Edition in Brazil. The smartphone is now listed on the Samsung’s Brazil website, but there is no information on the pricing and availability of the device yet.

Talking about its specifications, The Galaxy S5 New Edition flaunts a 5.1-inch 1080×1920 pixels Super AMOLED display offering a pixel density of 432ppi. It comes powered by Exynos octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz coupled with 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage with microSD card support for expansion upto 128GB.

On the camera front, the device sports a 16MP rear autofocus camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for video calling and selfie lovers. It supports dual sim dual standby and connectivity options on the 4G capable smartphone include Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB 3.0 with OTG support, NFC and Infrared remote functionality.

Like the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S5 New Edition is also certified by IP67 making it dust and water-resistant and it also comes with a heart rate sensor placed below the 16MP camera. The smartphone comes with a design similar to the Galaxy S5 as it also features a back panel with a perforated design.

The handset boasts a 2800mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box. The dimensions of the handset measure 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm and weighs around 145 grams.
