Samsung unveiled its new device Galaxy S6 Edge+ along with the Galaxy Note 5 in New York, the US. It sports the same edual Edge screen on the front which we first seen on the Galaxy S6 Edge. We expect the Edge functionality on the latest Galaxy S6 Edge+ to offer better productivity than its predecessor.
It borrows the same design from its predecessor, we can see the metallic frame around the device with Gorilla Glass 4 Protection on the front and rear of the device. It has the fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical Home button. It sports 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560×1440) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 518ppi. The device is powered by a 64-bit Exynos 7420 SoC built on 14nm process is coupled with Mali T-760 GPU and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM.
The device comes in three variants with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB internal storages, there is no microSD card slot as seen on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Coming to the camera, it includes a 16MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and OIS. On the front, there is a 5MP front camera with the same aperture of f/1.9. The device 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9 mm and weighs 153 grams.
The non-removable battery of 3,000mAh capacity is equipped quick charging support. According to Samsung, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ can be fully charged in just 90 minutes by wired charger and in 120 minutes with the latest Samsung’s wireless charger. Connectivity on the device include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, MIMO(2×2), and Bluetooth 4.2 LE. Though it was rumored that the company will also launch the device with USB Type-C port, instead they opted for micro USB2.0 port.
The device will be launched in the US starting from 21st August and will support about to launch Samsung Pay which will be launched on August 20 in South Korea and from September 28 in the US.
