Samsung has been in the rumor rounds for a while now about the launch of its flagship Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones that are scheduled to be unveiled at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona on Feb 21st. The company has been successful in keeping its lips tight about the details of its upcoming flagship devices. According to the PhoneRadar, here are the 5 major features that we can expect in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones.
Design & Display
The design language of the upcoming flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will mostly resemble its predecessors and will have curved edges at the back and will also sport a physical home button on the front that double’s up as fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S7 is expected to flaunt a 5.2-inch Quad-HD display while the Galaxy S7 Edge will feature slightly larger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED 2K display. We can also expect the devices to feature Pressure Sensitive Display, which was the standout feature of Apple’s iPhone 6s.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are expected to come powered by all-new Snapdragon 820 processor clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB as internal storage options. The devices will also come with microSD card support for the expansion of memory which was the major drawback of the Galaxy Note 5 that does not include this option. We can see a hybrid sim slot that lets the user use the second sim card slot also as microSD card slot. The Samsung Exynos 8890 processor variants may also be introduced along with the Snapdragon-powered devices.
It is the camera department in which the Samsung has excelled in the recent past. The Galaxy Note 5 has one of the finest cameras, and the captures from the device look stunning in any lighting conditions. The camera performance of the earlier launched Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge was also quite admirable. Coming to the Galaxy S7, the company has lowered the resolution, and it is expected to sport a 12MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, we can expect an 8MP snapper for selfie lovers.
Both the smartphones will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed based on Samsung’s highly customized TouchWiz UI laid on top. As seen in the earlier devices, the Galaxy S7 will have a multi-screen function for easy multi-tasking. The smartphones will also come with pre-installed VR apps as few rumors are suggesting that the company will also offer Samsung Gear VR for free along with the smartphones.
It is one of the major concerns of most of the flagship smartphones launched these days. The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge back 2550mAh & 2600mAh battery respectively which we feel is slightly under powered. The upcoming Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will come equipped with a 3000mAh and 3600mAh battery and are rated to offer 17 hours of video playback in maximum brightness. The devices will come with Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and we can also expect the smartphones to feature Wireless Charging technology.
