Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S SC – 02B to Gingerbread 2.3.6:
- Before proceeding, download Gingerbread 2.3.6 firmware Zip Package in your computer. Once downloaded, you need to unzip the same. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter in the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Match all the files from the extracted folder which is shown below as it will bear the two files, Odin and a tar firmware file which we will be using in eh due course of this article.
- From the extracted files, open the odin in your computer and turn Off your phone. Now, you need to enter your phone in the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- As soon as you enter into download mode, connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable and then you will see that the ID : COM section in Odin will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers are successfully updated and you can now proceed to the next step.
- In Odin, by clicking on the “PDA” tab you need to select the file named “SC02BOMKL1_SC02BOMKL1_SC02BOMKL1_HOME.tar.md5” which you can find from the extracted files above.
Note: Match all the Settings which are there in the Odin including the “Re Partition” etc.
- Once you cross check the file selections, you will now need to click on the “Start” option. Once the firmware is updated, the device will be restarting on its own after which you will be asked to enter the Google account credentials and the language settings.
- Once the firmware is updated, you need to check the firmware version of your phone which you can check from the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will see that the firmware will be shown as OMKL1 Gingerbread 2.3.6. just in case if it shows any other version then you need to again apply the update.
- (Optional) Just in case if you are facing some force close errors then you need to clear the cache from the recovery mode.
- The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. In the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option.
