Procedure to Update Galaxy SL I9003 with Gingerbread 2.3.6:
- Assuming that you have downloaded the Firmware Zip Package from the last page, you need to now unzip the same in your computer. Please note that in the process of unzipping, you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Once the password is entered, click on “Ok” to unzip the contents to the desktop preferably in one folder. Now, open the folder to check whether that has the files which are shown in the below screen capture or not, if even a single file is missing then that means either the file hasn’t downloaded properly or not extracted properly.
- Now, from the extracted files you will have to open the “Odin Flash tool” from the extracted files and then you need to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Refer below video to enter into the download mode.
- Once you enter into the download mode, you need to connect the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase to connect the phone with computer while the Odin is opened in your computer.
- Once you plug the USB cable, within a minute you should see the ID : COM section turning yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are ready with the procedure.
- After this, you need to now click on the PDA tab and then you need to select the below mentioned file from the extracted files.
PDA – I9003XXKPQ_I9003XXKPQ_I9003SERKPQ_HOME.tar.md5
Note: Match all the settings from the above screen capture including the “Re Partition” option etc.
- Now, click on “Start” tab to start the process of firmware update and as soon as the process of this firmware update gets done, the device will be restarting. After the reboot of device, you will then have to enter the Language settings as well as the Google Account credentials.
- So, to check whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not, you need to go to the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as XXKPQ 2.3.6 Gingerbread version.
- Now, after checking the version remove the USB cable and turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the video to know to know more on how to enter into the recovery mode in the last page where list of quick pre Requisistes are mentioned.
- In the recovery mode select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. Refer above image for more details on the same.
