After initially ruling out with no upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab 7, Samsung has backtracked on the thousands of comments, evaluated the possibilities and they have come up with the Value Pack update rather than the official upgrade. So what is this Value Pack update? The Value Pack update will bring certain features of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to the existing Gingerbread on Samsung Galaxy Tab 7. Your tablet on the Value Pack update will provide a better experience of the device with multi tasking and new widgets. Going through, the device Android version will show Android 2.3 but not Android 4.0.
But Samsung, today announced that Samsung Galaxy Tab will receive the Android 4.0 ICS value pack update starring in Korea first. This upgrade is available via Samsung KIES and you need to connect your tablet to the PC to get this update installed.
The following are the features included in the update –
- Face Recognition and Face unlock although the security is low
- Take photos while you record videos
- Adds the option of photo editor
- Android version remains the same
So if you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 and if you are from Korea then pull out, connect it with your computer using the USB Cable and check out on the Samsung KIES 2.0 software for upgrade.
