Samsung has never stepped out of the rumors and leaks business, as the Galaxy Xcover 2 device from the company is now into the scene, with an expected announcement at the Mobile World Congress 2013 event, and the phone doesn’t look that good but has got the decent specs, and is going to be popularly known for being a waterproof and dustproof device, although there is no scarcity now for these type of phones.
The Xcover2 with the model S7710 is going to be a successor to the first version Xcover in the Samsung Galaxy series, which was released in the year 2011. The Xcover name indicates that the phone is going to be a dustproof and waterproof one, and these phones are made quite sturdy and stable. The phone would be coming with the Android 4.1 or 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and the phone would have a 4-inch WVGA display and the several connectivity options along with it.
The dimensions of the device are 130.5 × 67.7 × 11.9 mm and the weight of it is 148 gms, while the phone has got an internal memory of 4GB and there is a MicroSD card support available for the expansion of the memory. There’s a 5 megapixel camera available on the rear side, and there is even a front camera which is of VGA quality, but still good enough for the video chat.
The connectivity options include HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and this doesn’t make it one of the best devices from Samsung but still has got the specs right enough to make it a mid-range smartphone with the main feature being the ability to withstand water droplets and dust, unlike the other Galaxy smartphones which would give up on the same conditions.
The phone would have a battery with the 1700 mAh capacity, and according to one of the sources, Sam Mobile, the phone is going to be announced during the Mobile World Congress 2013 event in Barcelona and the one whose picture was leaked, is going to be a Titan Gray version, while after the announcement, it would be launched on one more color – Black / Red combination. The Galaxy Xcover 2 S7710’s pricing is not confirmed, and can be known only after its announcement, and we are sure it is not going to too high, given the specs and comparing the same with the other Galaxy devices from the company.
Samsung is likely to launch a few more devices during the MWC 2013, after doing a no-show at the CES 2013 where their main concentration was on the larger gadgets like the televisions etc.
