Procedure to Update Samsung Nexus S Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0:
- Before proceeding, you need to download the ICS 4.0 Zip Package for Nexus S in your computer and ensure that you don’t rename the files in any manner or else there is a possibility that it may not get detected in the due course of the article.
- Now, connect the device to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase and copy the downloaded Zip File to the root of the device and not in any of the folders.
- Now, disconnect the phone from the computer and turn off the phone to enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume Up button and then power On the device. If the device boots normally then you need to try turning ON the device once again.
- In the recovery mode, select “Wipe Data / factory Reset” and then choose “Wipe Cache” and also clear the “Dalvik Cache” so that all the cache files are cleared off. After this, select “Install Zip from SD Card”, “Choose Zip from SD Card” and then select the file which is named as “ics-crespo-aosp-4.0.1-gapps-unsigned.zip”.
- Please note that once the file is selected, the firmware update process will be commenced and then within 4 – 5 minutes the firmware will be updated successfully.
- Once the device gets updated successfully, the device will either get restarted or will again land up in the recovery mode screen. If it enters into the recovery mode then you need to choose “ ++++ Go Back ++++ ” to get back to the main menu and then choose to “reboot system now” to restart the phone.
