The newly launched smartphone from Sony, the Xperia Z2 is already getting an update from the manufacturer, and that is for the improvement in the performance of the device, along with the stability improvement to what already looks like a very stable and good device. The latest update available, i.e. 17.1.A.2.55 is coming with the improvements and this update is being sent from 4th April 2014.
The improvements and changes that you would notice in the Android update to the Sony Xperia Z2 include the following:
- Improved performance of camera and the function with faster start time and better auto focus
- Better in-call audio with fine tuned noise cancellation
- FM radio function improvement
- Graphics improvements with smoother scrolling and image movement
- Improved stability with the latest bug fixes and enhancements
There’s a note in the end, saying that the availability of software updates depends on your country and/or operator, so we aren’t sure whether the update would be hitting all the places at the same time or not. Check for the current software version in your Xperia Z2, you need to go to Settings > About phone > Build number / version in your device.
To actually download the update and install it on your Xperia Z2, you will need to have particular software installed in your computer.

For the Mac users, it’s a similar tool called as Bridge for Mac which helps in finding the update and installing it for you on the smartphone.
To directly install the update via the OTA option, you need to go to “Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates” where the update availability would be shown if at all there is any for your phone.
