The Xperia Yuga was previewed, and so we got to see a few details about it and the device with 1080p display looks totally perfect. A prototype was showed and the Russian blog Mobile-Review did a hands-on, showing the excellent 12 megapixel camera on the rear side, while there is an additional cam on the front too. There are several ports included in the phone, and these are all covered – Micro HDMI, MicroUSB, Headphone socket and a Micro SIM has to be used for the network.
The way these ports are covered, and have rubber flanges on the inner side, the Yuga seems to having some protection to the different weather conditions. The Yuga is going to boast a quad-core Qualcomm processor, APQ8064 chipset with the Adreno 320 Graphics. There is no confirmation but the reports have given that during the launch, there would be the Android 4.2.1 version in it.
And finally, it would be the Sony Xperia branding in the phone, rather than just the Sony Yuga, so the name now should be Sony Xperia Yuga.
The battery hasn’t got any good appreciation, because its an internal battery which couldn’t be checked due to the unibody design and Mobile Review has reported that the display can pull a lot of battery, but until the final announcement from Sony doesn’t come, we cannot see what’s included.

The last quarter of 2012 has been a time for phablets and their leaked information, with the various brands showcasing their devices in the league of 5-inch Android phones, and the latest addition to the list would be the Sony “Yuga” with a full HD 5-inch touchscreen. Having got the code of C660X, the Yuga has come into the scene with a few leaked pictures and specifications that could talk a lot about the upcoming competitor in the phablet market. The device could even get the name of Xperia Yuga because there is a logo showing Xperia on the back panel.
As to the specs, here is what we got to learn about the phone:
- 5″ Full HD 1080p display
- 1.5GHz quad-core processor (likely S4 Pro)
- 2GB RAM
- 12 megapixel rear camera with dedicated camera button
- Android 4.1.1 initially, could get the next version update
There have been speculations that the device would be getting a better version of Android than what it is right now in the pictures, and the design seems to have a unibody with black on the back side, and it does look quite large but elegant with the rectangular sharp edged body. Though Sony has been trying to bring out devices with charm that could attract many users just for the design, the Xperia series couldn’t succeed in the same and thus Sony could rely on Yuga for some spark in the market, and make the upcoming devices like the Oppo Find 5, the HTC Droid DNA run for the money.
One of the noticeable things about the Sony Yuga is the dedicated camera key, which would give 12MP camera a good addition and the camera capturing would now get better. And how much ever the users might love the phone for having a unibody design with the classic looks, many might not like it because the battery is packed within, and is not replaceable and you are stuck with an option of just charging the phone even when you need some battery left at crisis. That all would depend on the battery capacity the Yuga would come with.
There is no confirmation about the announcement or launch date of the phone, and even the pricing. As of now, it’s just the leaked pictures and the specs.
