With the market of the 4G-LTE supported smartphones increasing in India, many smartphone manufacturers are trying to offer budget friendly 4G enabled devices. The domestic smartphone manufacturer, Spice has recently launched a new pocket-friendly smartphone called as Spice Proton 5 that comes with decent specifications. The device is priced at Rs. 5,999 and is available for purchase exclusively via HomeShop 18.
The main USP of the Spice Proton 5 is it sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and is one of the cheapest handsets to offer such camera at that price tag. On the front, it has a 5MP shooter for video chats and selfie lovers. Coming to its specifications, the smartphone features a 5-inch (720×1280 pixels) HD IPS display offering a pixel density of 294 ppi and DragonTrail Glass protection on top of it.
Under the hood, it comes equipped with an unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and microSD card slot for expansion upto 32GB. The device supports dual sim dual standby and includes basic connectivity options like 2G/3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB port. The only downside is it lacks the 4G-LTE support that is being offered by other smartphone makers like Intex and Micromax in most of their devices these days.
The handset comes backed by a 2000mAh battery that the company claims can last upto 4 hours of talk time and upto 8 days of standby time. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and is available in Black color option. The Spice Proton will have to face tough competition from the likes of Micromax Canvas Pace, Lenovo A6000, Yu Yunique that offers almost similar specifications with additional 4G-LTE support.
