Tablets in India will only survive if they are priced at four figure cost in Indian rupees. Yes, less than 9,999 is the price I am talking about. However when I talk of low cost tablets only thing which remind me is the massive failed tablet called Aakash tablet. A new low cost Android tablet called TabPlus Rio was announced recently launched by a Bangalore based IT company called Digital Waves. Its priced at Rs 11,990 and let’s see what this tablet got to offer us.
The TabPlus Rio is powered with single core 1 Ghz Cortex A9 processor with 512 MB of RAM DDR2 type. It has 7 inches capacitive touchscreen display with a file storage capacity of 4 GB inbuilt and 32 GB possible via microSD card slot. With internet connectivity possible via Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g and with the 3G using the USB dongle various connectivity options like micro USB port, USB port, HDMI out are present. It comes with front facing camera and has 3,000 mAH battery which last longs for nearly 12 hours of usage. This tablet will compete with recently launched Mercury mTab 2 which is priced in the similar range as that of TabPlus Rio priced at Rs 11,990.
This tablet comes with flash supporting for accessing websites and watching videos and provides multi-tasking on the go. It has 3.5 mm headphone jack connectivity and it has G Sensor for gaming. It weighs 350 grams measuring 203 x 120 x 13 mm dimension and gives access to more than a million Android applications. This tablet will be available for free shipping across India and it will come with limited one year warranty. The Android version included in this tablet is Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. It supports playback of audio files such as MP2, MP3, WAV, AAC, WMA and supports video files MPEG 1/2/4, H.264, H.263, VC1 (WMV9), RMVB, RM, 3GP, AVI, MKV, MOV format in 720p HD.
