Upgrade to Android 4.0.3 ICS Pack Via Samsung KIES
This update is been delivered to Samsung Galaxy S II variant on T-Mobile via Samsung KIES only and follow the below procedure to begin with –
- First make sure that you download the Samsung KIES.
- Once the installation is completed, launch the installer and then reboot your system if required. That completes the installation of Samsung KIES and open it.
- Once you open, you would be prompted to update Samsung KIES, tap on Update.
- Now connect your Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989 using the USB cable to the PC.
- Once the Samsung KIES recognizes your phone it will shown on the upper left side navigation phone in the connected menu, which means that your phone is successfully connected.
- You would then get an upgrade notifications automatically in a pop up similar to one below
- Tap on Update
- Read the Caution pop up and then tap on Start Upgrade.
- Now Samsung KIES would begin downloading the required files for upgrade from the Samsung Servers. This would take few minutes of time which is dependent on the connection of yours and the internet speed.
- After few minutes when the download of files would be completed, KIES will automatically transfer them to your device.
- Your phone would be automatically entered into download mode once the files contents are transferred.
- The Samsung KIES on the other side will show the firmware upgrade progress in percentage bar.
- When the upgrade process is completed you will see the following pop-up windows
- And after some time the firmware upgrade will be completed.
- Click on OK and disconnect your phone safety.
So with that you have finally upgraded your Galaxy S2 SGH-T989 smartphone with the Android 4.0 ICS pack.
