UMI X1 Android ICS Phone with 4.5-inch HD Display – Specs, Details, Pricing

UMI Mobile, the Chinese mobile phone brand has entered the Indian smartphone market with the UMI X1 Android smartphone having a qHD display and the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The handset has received a good response in the Chinese markets, but one can’t easily predict the fate in the Indian market where there is already a huge competition between the other smartphone brands. Being priced at Rs. 9999 in the Indian market, the phone has got a lot that can make it a good competition against the many other mid-level Android smartphones priced at the same range.

UMI X1 Android Phone

The X1 comes taking the Micromax A110, iBall Andi 4.5 and the Karbonn A21 as the main competitors as it has got a good 4.5-inch qHD screen and the display has got a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, and for this pricing the 720p display is the best available in this UMI X1 smartphone. Internally, the phone is powered by the MediaTek MTK6577 1GHz processor, and this has become a trend for even the basic Android devices lately. To keep it better than the competitor devices, UMI has included a 1GB of RAM to support the multitasking and heavy app usage.

There is an inclusion of an 8-megapixel rear camera with the Dual-LED flash intended to assist in the low-light photography. On the front, there is a 2-megapixel camera that would help in video calling. The X1 comes with a Dual-SIM compatibility, and the connectivity options available in the phone include the 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS locator. Supported by a lot of sensors, the phone has got a battery with the 1750 mAh battery capacity, which should be good enough to work for more than a day as claimed by the makers but we aren’t sure of the time it would stay for, on the continuous 3G data network connectivity.

This is a good device for the given price of Rs. 9999 but the market in India does have more powerful devices at the same price range, for example, the Karbonn S1 is a device priced 1K higher than the X1 but has got a powerful Quad-core processor that would make the phone a lot speeder.
This is not the first company trying its luck in the Indian market, as it was Gfive and Zopo earlier which have made an entry long time back, and are doing pretty well here alongside the many Indian smartphone companies.
