While the rumors are in that the latest Android OS version will be released soon, Google released an all new Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware version which is Android 4.1.2 (JRO54K) version. This firmware though comes with no major changes. This Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware version comes with the stability fixes and also all the flash issues have been addressed. Though there is no ETA on by when there will be official update of 4.1.2 rolling out across the Globe, but you can apply the same manually with the help of below mentioned instructions. Though there is no clarity on by when there will be an Official firmware update released by Google for other devices, expect it very soon along with an all new version of Android very soon in the coming days.

All the antivirus suites should be turned Off / uninstalled as these interrupt the process of firmware update. Navigate to the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging, ensure that the USB debugging option is ticked. Minimum battery charge should not be below 30% or else device is at risk of getting turned Off in the middle of update.

- Before proceeding, you will have to make sure that the Nexus 7 tablet is boot loader unlocked and also ensure that the CWM recovery is installed in your Nexus 7. - Download the latest Jellybean 4.1.2 (JRO54K) version Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the downloaded zip file in your Nexus 7 tablet. Please note that you are not placing the file deep into the device as it may not get detected in the recovery mode.
- The recovery mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Volume Down and then press the Power button to enter the device in the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” to select the “Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware package which you have placed in your device. Once the file is selected, it will take around 4 – 5 minutes for applying this update. Once it’s applied successfully, the device will land back on the recovery screen.
- Once the update is applied, select “Go Back” option and “reboot system now” for rebooting the device. If the device gets stuck on the ASUS Logo, then you need to re follow all the above mentioned steps so as to apply this Jellybean 4.1.2 update.
