Procedure to Update Galaxy S GT I9000 with ICS 4.0.4 Firmware:
- Download the ICS Package & Google Apps from here to your computer. Once downloaded, you now need to connect the device to the computer.
- Copy the downloaded zip files in your device’s SD Card and disconnect the device so that it can be then entered in the recovery mode.
- Recovery mode in Galaxy S can be entered by holding the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to turn ON your device. Once you enter into the recovery mode, you need to select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition” so that this will clear the cache which is there in your device.
- Up next in the recovery mode, Select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” to select the ICS 4.0.4 Custom ROM firmware Zip package and then Google Apps Package which you have placed in your phone. Once both the zip files are updated, the phone will land back on the recovery mode screen.
- In recovery mode screen, you now need to select “Go Back” and select the option of “Reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the latest ICS 4.0.4 firmware.
Note: In a rare case if the device refuses to boot or gets in the boot loop mode, you need to re insert the battery and turn ON the device normally. You can also re apply the update by following the above mentioned steps.
