Update Galaxy S4 GT I9500 with AOSP Jellybean 4.3 Firmware – Guide

Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 Android smartphone can now be updated with the Jellybean 4.3 Android OS based custom ROM firmware. While the official update of Jellybean 4.3 Android OS is still due for the release next month, till then you can apply this update by following the tutorial which we will be checking out in the due course of this article.   • Make sure that your Galaxy S4 is rooted which can be checked from the Root Checker app. From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”, you need to enable the same. Minimum battery life should be more than 50%.

Procedure to Update Galaxy S4 with Jellybean 4.3 Android OS:

  • Download the Jellybean 4.3 Android OS from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of original computer and place the zip file in your device.
  • Once placed, disconnect the device from computer and turn Off the device so that it can be entered in the Recovery Mode.
  • Recovery Mode in Samsung Galaxy S4 can be entered by pressing Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button). While holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device.
  •  In recovery mode after Wiping all the data and Clearing the cache, select “install zip from sd card” to choose the Jellybean 4.3 Android Zip Package.
  • Once selected, it will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update. Once the firmware is updated successfully, the device will reboot. To check on whether the device is updated successfully or not, check the same from the path “Settings > About Phone”.

Note: If at all your Galaxy S4 gets in the boot loop sequence then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button.
