Procedure to update with the Official Gingerbread 2.3.3 DDJV6 version:
Update from Eclair to Froyo:
- First of all as soon as you downgrade to the version of DDJG4, you will have to connect to the computer with the help of USB cable.
- Now, as soon as you connect the phone you will have to open the KIES from your computer and as soon as you open the KIES in your computer, you will be immediately prompted that a new update is available which is nothing but the update of DDJP6 Froyo 2.2 version. So, you will have to update with the same by clicking on the “update” as shown in the below video.
- Now, after this depending upon the internet connection and data speed, the updation process will be initiated and then the update process will be commenced in which the official Froyo version will be downloaded.
NOTE: It has been found that some of the users are unable to get this update notification sue to the product code mismatch as in the video you can clearly see that the product code in the version is (INU) and if the product code is shown as (KOR) or to any other then you can’t proceed ahead and the only way is either the manual update with the help of the Odin or you can also visit the official service centre of Samsung to get it updated to latest Indian version of Gingerbread for free if your handset is in warranty. The manual installation method with the help of Odin will soon be covered in the site as soon as possible.
- It will take more than an hour to update the device if your Internet Speed is around is around 512 Kbps which is the case with me and likely depending upon the Internet speed the firmware will be downloaded first.
- Now, as soon as the firmware is downloaded, this update will be processed in the phone and in the phone you will see that automatically the download mode screen will be started as shown in the Video.
- So, that’s it as soon as the updation process is completed, the device will be rebooting and here you will have to be patient as the device will take some time to Power ON as it will be fixing the critical issues, so there’s no need to panic what so ever. Just let your phone take its own time in switching ON and as soon as you see the home screen in your phone, you will have to pull the USB cable.
- Now, after pulling the USB cable, you will have to turn off the phone so that you can enter into the recovery mode and can clear the cache and wipe the data. For this after you turn off your device, you will have to long press the volume up key, press Menu as holding both the buttons press the power button to start. Now, you can see that after device gets switched ON and you will find options like clear cache data. You can clear that by selecting options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which your Galaxy S will be rebooting and again you will have to set up your Google accounts etc. Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone.
