How to Update hp Touch Pad with Latest ICS 4.0 based AOKP Firmware

hp logoThough hp touch pad is on the Web OS which HP has completely closed down the development, the best part of this device is its hardware as it can very well accommodate the Android operating system. So, on the similar lines, we will be discussing about on how you can install the ICS Android 4.0 custom ROM firmware with the help of AOKP release. This is the Build 40 update and is one of the stable custom ROM firmwares among all the custom ROM firmwares. Please be informed that, this firmware is not an Official firmware released by hp or Google for HP Touch pad but is a custom rom firmware developed by third party developers. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been many updates or developments on this devices but we will soon be coming out with many more custom ROM firmwares for hp touch pad.

Procedure to Update hp touch pad with AOKP Build 40 Firmware Update:

  • Up next you need to place the ACME Installer In the same directory as that of the Novacom as in the path c:\Program Files\Palm, Inc directory, just copy ACMEInstaller2 to that directory.
  • File explorer in your computer, you need to copy all the below mentioned 4 files in your device. Please note that you should not unzip the files, all the files should be in the same format which are downloaded originally.
  • So, once you have copied all the files, you can eject the touchpad from the computer and remove the same from computer. Now, all you need to do is to tap on the home button and then press on the arrow icon to select the “Settings” tab and then choose the device info. After this you need to select “Restart” option as shown in the below screen capture.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up button till you see the USB icon and then connect the device to the computer and after a minute open the command prompt in your computer by typing “Win + R” and “cmd” and press enter.
  • Type in “CD/” and press Enter. Now, enter “dir” which will show the list of directories and then it will list all the directories and then type “cd program files” and then “cd Palm, Inc” to press the enter again.
  • After this, you need to enter the following command without the inverted comas “novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2”
  • Now, you will see that the USB icon will be disappeared and then if it doesn’t then you need to reboot the computer.
  • Once everything goes correct, you will see that the hp touchpad will boot in the Moboot and from here you can easily choose to boot into the Cyanogen mod by pressing the home button. Also, you can choose to reboot to Web OS by using the Volume Up Down keys for navigating to the Web OS.

Tip: Just in case if you face any issues in the middle of the process or the firmware gets stuck in the middle of the process then you need to again re follow the whole procedure again from the start.
