Procedure to Update HTC Desire with ICS Android 4.0.4 Firmware:
- Download ICS Android 4.0.3 Zip package from here to your computer and once you do that you will now need to connect your phone to the computer with the help of the USB cable.
- After copying the zip file to your phone, remove the connected USB cable and enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” after which turn off your phone so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode.
- The Boot loader mode in HTC Desire can be entered by pressing Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Please note that just in case if the device boots up in the normal mode, you need to again try entering into the boot loader mode.
- Once the device is entered in the boot loader mode, you need to select the option “Recovery” to enter the device in the recovery mode. Now, in the recovery mode, you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the ICS Android 4.0.3 Zip file which you have placed in your phone.
- Once you select the file, it may take up to 5 minutes to apply this update in your phone. As soon as the firmware is applied successfully, either the phone will be rebooted automatically or will again land up in the recovery mode screen.
- If the device is entered in the recovery mode screen, you need to now select the option of “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose the option of “reboot system now”. As soon as the phone is rebooted, you are on the latest ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware version.
Tip: Just in case of the interruption due to any reason, then you need to re insert the battery and need to re follow the above procedure from the start.
