Procedure to Update HTC Evo Shift 4G with ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware:
- Before proceeding, you need to ensure that you have rooted your phone so as to ensure that this ICS is accommodated successfully. Now, assuming that you have rooted your phone successfully then you can proceed to next step.
- Download ICS 4.0.3 Custom ROM Firmware for HTC Evo 4G & Google Apps from here to your computer and once you are done with that, you need to connect your phone with the computer and copy these 2 downloaded Zip files to your phone’s SD card.
- Now, remove the connected USB cable and enable the USB Debugging Mode in your phone from the path Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.
- After this, you need to turn Off the phone so as to enter the device in the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, press the volume Down Key and simultaneously you need to press the Power button so as to enter in the boot loader Mode. In the boot loader mode, you then need to tap on the “Recovery” option as shown in the below image.
- Now, from the recovery mode you need to select “Clear Storage” so that all the cache data is deleted from your phone which will clear all the cache data present in the phone. After this, you need to select “install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” to choose the ICS Android 4.0.3 Zip file which you have placed in your phone and then you need to select the file of Google Apps which you have placed.
- It will take around 10 minutes for applying this update and once the update is applied successfully, you will see the recovery mode screen in your phone.
- In recovery mode, select “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose “reboot system now” for restarting the phone in the ICS Android 4.0.3 firmware. To check whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you can check the same from the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will see that the firmware version as 4.0.3. If there is any other version then you need to update the same again.
Tip: Restore the backup of all the data which you have made so as to ensure that all the apn settings as well as other crucial data is restored.
