How to Update HTC Rezound with Official ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware

Essential Pre Requisites:

  • Data in your HTC Rezound should be backed up so that just in case if the data is lost or corrupted, the same can restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Don’t use HTC Sync to back up the data.

Notes – Backup in the mail so that you can then restore manually
SMS Messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts Stored in Phone Memory – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your HTC Rezound from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked as shown in the below screen capture.
  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.

Guide to Update HTC Rezound with Official ICS 4.0.3 ICS Firmware:

  • Once downloaded and renamed, connect your phone to the computer and place the downloaded zip file in the device’s SD Card. Ensure that you are not placing the file deep into the device.
  • Turn Off the HTC Rezound device and press Volume UP Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button to enter the phone in the boot loader mode.. Please note that just in case if the device boots up in the normal mode, you need to again try entering into the recovery mode.

Rezound Recovery Mode

  • In boot loader mode, you need to select the “Recovery” to enter the device in the recovery mode. Now, in the recovery mode, you need to select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the file which you have placed in your phone.
  • As soon as the device gets back in the recovery mode screen, you need to select “++++ Go Back ++++” > “reboot system now” for restarting the device. Now, you will see that the device is successfully updated to the latest ICS Android 4.0.3 Firmware which you can check from the path “Settings > About Phone” where 3.13.605.7 version and 4.0.3 firmware will be mentioned.

Note: Just in case if the device doesn’t boot up, then remove the battery, re insert and re follow the above mentioned instructions to apply the update again. Also, don’t forget to restore the backup which you have made in the pre requisites section.
