How to Update Moto G (3rd Generation) with Cyanogen Mod 1 – Guide

Cyanogen Mod 12 is all here for Motorola’s Moto G (2015) 3rd Generation and this ROM is fairly better than compared to any other custom ROM firmware for the device. This new update of Cyanogen Mod 12 is based on Lollipop 5.1.1 Android OS and is based on the baseband version of and build of LMY48G. This update is not the perfect stable build as this is just 3rd build of Cyanogen OS and we can expect the near stable version in coming days to come. We have mentioned some of the screen captures below of Cyanogen Mod 12 on Moto G (3RD Generation) device.
There we few bugs related to Camera and GPS earlier, but now in this build the camera, FM radio, WiFi, GPS, and everything seem to be functioning properly. One can install this build in on the custom recovery image. For all those users who have already rooted the device can easily apply this custom ROM firmware dubbed as Cyanogen Mod 12. We will guide you on how you can apply this firmware in your Moto G device.

Insta Pre Requisites:

  • Backup all the data present in your device using below mentioned apps for respective data;
  • SMSSMS Backup & Restore,
    Call LogCall Log Backup & Restore,
    Photos and others – Manually copy the same in your computer,
    Apps – Apps need to be re downloaded again as history of downloaded apps is maintained in Google Play Store
    Make sure that your device is rooted. Check whether your Moto G is rooted or not with the help of “Root Checker” app. Also, you need to make sure that you have at least 70% of battery left in your device.

    Assuming that you are done with the above mentioned steps, lets proceed to the next step where we have detailed out the complete procedure for upgrading the device.

    Procedure to Update Moto G 2015 with Cyanogen Mod 12:

  • Download Cyanogen Mod 12 Firmware file and connect your Moto G device to place the same in your device.
  • Turn off your device so that it can be entered in the bootloader / recovery mode.
  • In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” to select the firmware zip file which you have placed in the device.
  • Once selected, the firmware will be updated. Please note that it may take longer time for getting your phone rebooted to the normal mode.
  • Note: If at all your Moto G 2015 smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.
