How to Update Motorola Fire XT to Android 2.3.5 Firmware Version

Motorola Fire XT handsetAnnounced in third quarter of 2011, Motorola Fire XT is a new middle range smartphone coming in the price range of affordability at Rs 8000 in India. It’s one of the major competitors of Samsung Galaxy Ace handset and its among the top best Android phone priced at the range of Rs 10,000. Just like other phones, Motorola today has rolled out an Android 2.3.5 update to the users in India. Motorola didn’t provide the list of enhancement and improvements included with this firmware but we are sure that updates always releases to fix the bugs from the previous issues, provide a better layout and interface and finally improve the battery life of the device considerably.

These update to Motorola Fire XT is available via Motorola Software update tool which can be downloaded easily from the Motorola official site. This is the official firmware update available on the Motorola Software update tool provided by Motorola India.

Please note that this update is only available for Motorola Fire XT users in India only.

Essential Pre Requisites Before Update

Before you update your phone with Android 2.3.5 firmware you should make sure of the following pre upgrade instructions –

  • Please make sure that all the data present in your Motorola Fire XT needs to be backed up as it will be lost during the firmware mentioned here, though this is official firmware update.
  • This software will verify your phone warranty prior to the update
  • The software update might take 20 to 30 minutes of time
  • You should ensure that before updating with this software pack, your device should be fully charged to minimum of atleast 80 % battery life. Its quite essential because if you run short of battery during the process of update then you might end up in bricking your device.
  • Disable all the antivirus programs that are present on your phone and also disable the firewall tool present on your PC.

Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.
