Procedure to Update Nexus S with Jellybean based Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware
- Before proceeding to update the device make sure that you have rooted your nexus S. Download the Cyanogen mod 10 Firmware Package & Google Apps Zip package from here to your computer. Also, you need to ensure that the Clock Work mod recovery is installed with the help of ROM Manager app which can be downloaded from the Google PLAY Store.
- Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer with the help of USB cable and place these two files in your device’s SD Card. Ensure that you are not placing these files deep into the device.
- As soon as these files are placed, disconnect the computer and turn off the device so that it can be then entered in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in the Samsung Nexus S can be entered by “Pressing and holding Volume Up key and then press Power Button”.
- Once you enter into the recovery mode, you will then need to select the option “install zip from sd card” after which you will see a list of files which are there in your phone.
- Select “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose “reboot system now” to reboot the system. It will not take more than 10 minutes for applying this update. Please don’t interrupt the process of applying the update or else it may even brick the device.
- For checking whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, you need to go to the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where it will show Cyanogen mod 10 Jellybean Android 4.1 Firmware. Just in case if it shows any other firmware version then you again need to follow the instructions.
Note: Just in case if the device booted up or gets into the boot loop mode then you need to re follow the above mentioned steps with the help of above mentioned instructions. Don’t forget to restore the backup which you have taken in the initial steps.
