How to Update Oppo N1 with Cyanogen Mod 11 Milestone 4 Firmware – Guide

For all those users who have managed to root their Oppo N1 Android smartphone which was launched in India later in January can now install the latest version of Kitkat 4.4 with the help of Cyanogen Mod 11 Milestone 4 which was released later today. This all new version of firmware comes with tons of new features and functionalities which makes this firmware worth using it. So after checking out the brief list of quick list of pre requisites, lets proceed on to check on what are the detailed list of instructions and procedure with which you can apply this firmware update.

This new firmware comes with many new features which are otherwise not available in the default firmware released by Oppo.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your device needs to be backed up with the help of below mentioned steps manually and not with any sorts of automated tools.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Head over to the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging” in your Oppo N1 so as to enable the USB Debugging Mode. Make sure that the battery left in your Oppo N1 is not less than 50% as the firmware update process may get hampered.

Procedure to Update Oppo N1 Android Phone with kitkat 4.4 Cyanogen Mod 11 Milestone 4 Firmware:

  • Download the Cyanogen Mod 11 Milestone 4 Firmware from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and place the zip file in your device.
  • Disconnect the device so that it can be entered in the Recovery Mode. Manually Oppo N1 can be entered in the recovery mode with the help of either ROM Manager app or manually.
  • Manually Oppo N1 can be entered in the recovery mode by pressing Volume Down + Home button + Power button and then selecting the recovery option from the next screen. In recovery mode, select Data Wipeout / Factory reset options and also Wipe Cache from the Advanced Option.
  • Once Oppo N1 enters in the recovery mode, all you need to do is to select “install zip from SD Card” to choose the KitKat 4.4.2 Firmware Package which you have placed in the Oppo N1. Please note that it might take around 4 – 5 minutes for applying the update. Once updated, select “Go BACK” and choose the option of “Reboot System Now” for rebooting the device.

Note: Just in a rare case if the device doesn’t boot up or show the home screen then remove the battery and reinsert the same to boot the device again in the normal mode.

You can check the firmware update from the path “Settings > More > About Phone > Firmware Version” where the firmware update version will be mentioned.  The firmware mentioned will be Cyanogen Mod 11 Milestone 4 Kitkat 4.4.2.

Note: If at all your Oppo N1 smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.
