Tutorial to Update Samsung Epic 4G with FD 19 ICS 4.0.3 Firmware:
- Download the appropriate Samsung Epic 4G firmware package (Odexed | De Odexed) from here to your computer and extract the same as shown below. “Odex” firmware version will wipe all the user data in your phone while “De-Odexed” will not wipe the user level data.
- Turn Off the phone so that it can be then entered in the Download mode. To enter the phone in the download mode, you will have to first turn Off the phone, hold the “1” numbered key on your qwerty keypad and then holding these both buttons you will have to Power ON the device with the help of the power button.
- As soon as the phone is entered in the download mode, connect the phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and once connected you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow.
Note: if the ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
- Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
- Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
- Click on Start to start the process of firmware updater and once the firmware update process is completed, you will see that the device will be restarted and once you see the home screen disconnect the phone from computer and turn Off the same so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode so that the cache data is wiped which will prevent you from experiencing force close errors.
- Turn Off your device so that you can then enter the device in the recovery mode. Recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button.
- In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys. Once it’s done, you then will have to select the option of “reboot system now” for restarting the device.
- Please note that you will have to make sure that you don’t interrupt the process of this updation or else you will have to either lose your phone as it will be bricked which is the rare case or else you will have to re-apply the update if this process is interrupted.
Note: Restore all the data which you have backed up just in case if any data is erased. Also, restore the APN Settings so that you can access internet. Just in a rare case if the firmware is not updated successfully, you need to re follow the whole steps so as to update the phone with FD 19 ICS firmware.
