Pre Requisites:
- After the application of this update, all your data which is present in the phone will be lost, so you will have to create a backup of all your precious data so that as soon as the firmware update is applied, you can then proceed to restore the same.
- Since all the data in your phone like Contacts, Messages, Applications, Images and Videos will be erased, you will have to make a backup of all of them. Though this is not a difficult task but will just take hardly 10 – 12 minutes to create a backup. To backup Images and Videos, you can move them all to your PC or to the external SD card of your phone as SD contents will not be erased.
Procedure to Backup and Restore SMS,
- To backup and restore the SMS as well as Contacts, you can refer to the links which are mentioned above. Apart from these, you will also have to note down the APN Settings which are there in your phone. Basically, these settings are responsible for internet access in your phone. The APN Settings are located in this path, Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. This includes both MMS as well as the WAP / GPRS / EDGE / 3G Settings.
- Ensure that your computer has a minimum of Windows XP or Windows 7 with the USB 2.0 minimum. Along with this configuration, you should also ensure that you will have to you are having the admin privileges on your computer and also most importantly KIES should be updated to the latest version which is KIES 2.0. Also, if any error message occurs while flashing the update, then you will have to update with the latest version of framework in your computer.
- Till the process of updation is done, you will have to ensure that the KIES is closed and also the Antivirus as well as the Firewall solutions should be disabled.
