How to Update Samsung Epic 4G Touch D710 with Stable ICS 4.0.3 Firmware

Procedure to Update Samsung Epic 4G Touch D710 with ICS Android 4.0 Firmware:

Extract D700 Zip

  • Once opened, you will be asked to provide the path to where you would like this zip file to be extracted. You can preferably extract the zip file to a folder on desktop.

  • Once extracted, you need to open the self-extracted Odin package named as “SPH-D710.FC15_CL256308_ROOTED-OneClick” as shown in the below screen capture

  • Once the odin is opened, you now need to connect your phone to the computer in the download mode. To enter the device in the download mode, you need to first turn Off the phone. The Download mode in the Samsung Epic 4G Touch D710 can be entered by pressing the Volume Down button + the Menu Button and then Power ON the device. If the device turns ON in the normal mode then you need to try again to enter into the download mode.

  • Once the download mode is entered, you then need to connect your phone to the computer with the help of USB cable while keeping the Odin open in your computer. Once you connect the device, you will see that the ID : COM section will turn Yellow as shown in the below screen capture.

Note: if the ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,

  • Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
  • Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
  • Once you connect the device, you need to click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. As soon as the firmware is updated successfully, you will see the home screen.

  • Remove the connected USB cable and turn Off the device so that it can then be entered in the recovery mode. The recovery mode in the D710 Samsung Epic 4G Touch can be entered by Holding Menu Button and then Power ON the device. If the device turns ON in the normal mode then you need to try again to enter into the recovery mode.

Note: At any point of time just in case if the process of firmware update gets stopped due to any reason, all you need to do is restart the process from the start by re inserting the battery.
