Procedure to Update Galaxy S 4G T959 with UVKJ6 Gingerbread 2.3.6:
- After downloading the firmware Zip package from the last page, you now need to extract the same preferably to desktop. In the process of extraction, you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without inverted comas.
- Once you extract the firmware zip file, you need to compare the extracted file contents with the below mentioned image, even if single file is absent you need to check with the file extraction or you need to download the Zip file again.
- Now, from the extracted files you will have to open the “Odin Flash tool” from the extracted files and then you need to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. Refer below video to enter into the download mode.
- As soon as you enter into the download mode, you now need to connect the phone with the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase.
- Once you connect the USB cable, within a minute you should see the ID : COM section turning yellow which will mean that all the drivers have been successfully installed and you are ready with the procedure.
- After this you need to click on “PDA” tab in Odin and select the file which is named as “” after which you need to click on the “Start” tab to start the process of firmware update.
- Once the firmware update is done, the device will be restarted on its own and then you need to remove the connected USB cable as soon as you see the home screen in your phone.
- So, to check whether the firmware has been successfully applied or not, you need to go to the path “Applications > Settings > About Phone” where you will find the firmware version as UVKJ6 2.3.6 Gingerbread version.
- Now, turn Off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. In recovery mode you need to select the options like “Wipe Data / factory reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition” which will clear off all the data which is stored in the phone.
- The recovery mode can be entered by holding the Volume UP key and then press the Power ON button simultaneously to turn ON the device in the RECOVERY mode. You can also refer to the above video to know more on how to enter into the recovery mode.
Note : Just in case if you are unable to access the internet after the firmware update, you will have to re configure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset.
Once you are done with the selection, you now need to choose the option of “reboot system now” o restart the phone and that’s it you have now successfully updated your phone to the latest version of Gingerbread 2.3.6 version.
