Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy S 4G to Gingerbread 2.3.5:
- First up you need to download the Gingerbread 2.3.5 Zip Package in your computer. Once you finished downloading the same, you will now have to proceed to the unzipping it. Please note that in the process of unzipping the zip file, you will be prompted to enter the password, enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.
- Now, after extracting the files, you need to compare the files with the below screenshot so that just to make sure that download and unzipping have been done correctly. Once everything is perfect, you now need to click on the “Odin” executable file in your computer after which you need to turn Off the phone so that then you can enter into the download mode from your phone.
- To enter into the download mode from your phone, all you need to do is to just hold the Volume down key and then press the Power ON button simultaneously to turn ON the device in the download mode after which you will see the screen as you can also see in the below video which is shown for your convenience.
- After this as soon as you enter the download mode, you will now have to connect your Samsung Galaxy S 4G phone with the computer using the USB cable while keeping the Odin is opened in computer / laptop.
- Please note that as soon as you connect the phone to the computer, in the Odin you will see that the ID : COM block will turn yellow which means that all the necessary drivers have been successfully installed and you are now ready to proceed for updating the device.
- Now, you will have to click on the PDA tab in the Odin and need to select the file which is named as “T959VUVKI1-REV00-home-low-CL579207.tar.md5” after this you will need to double check the same that you have chosen the correct file or else there is a probability that you may end up bricking up the phone.
- So, once you have selected the correct file, you will now need to click on the “Start” option in the Odin and then you will have to wait till the firmware update process gets completed. As soon as the firmware updation gets finished, you will see that the device will be restarted and you will be prompted to enter the language followed by the Google Account credentials entry.
- Please note that of the phone remains at one place for more than 10 minutes then you need to plug out the USB cable re insert the battery, restart the PC and then retry the process of firmware update from the start.
- To check on whether you have successfully updated the firmware to the Gingerbread 2.3.5 or not, all you need to do is to go to the path of Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where the you will see that the version will be mentioned as UVKI1 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Just in case if its showing any other version then that means that the firmware is not updated successfully and you will have to again apply the update.
Note : Just in case if you are unable to access the internet after the firmware update, you will have to re configure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
- So, once you are done with the updating of the firmware you will now have to first up turn Off the phone so that you can now enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by just holding down the Volume UP key and then press the Power ON button simultaneously to turn ON the device in the RECOVERY mode. Once you enter into the recovery mode, you will now have to select the options which are listed in the recovery mode which are “Wipe Data / factory reset” and “Wipe Cache Partition” so that all the data will be wiped off and the phone will be faster than ever as it deletes all the cache files. Please note that performing this step will wipe all the applications which are there in your phone.
So, once you are done with this that’s it you have now successfully updated the firmware of your Samsung Galaxy S 4G to the latest and the stable version of Gingerbread 2.3.5.
