Pre-requisites:
- Updating with this firmware will erase all your data present on the phone. So, one has to take the backup of all the data so that the data can be restored after the updation process. Follow the below guide to backup all your data.
SMS Messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts Stored in Phone Memory – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Now, make sure that your mobile has more than 70% charging as the firmware updation process consumes more amount of battery life.
- Ensure that you have PC/Laptop with admin rights and close all the anti-virus software installed on it.
Now, proceed further and get ready for applying this firmware on your mobile.
Steps to Update Samsung Galaxy 551 I5510 to XWKPH 2.3.6 Firmware:
- Initially, download the I5510XWKPH zip package and place it on your desktop. After downloading, extract all the files form the zip package at the same location.
- Now, check the extracted files with the screen shot below and if you find any of the file missing then download the zip package again.
- Open the Odin tool from extracted files and run it on your system. Turn Off your mobile and start it again to enter into downloading mode. In order to enter into downloading mode press Q button and power button simultaneously at the same time.
- Next, connect your mobile with PC/Laptop using the USB cable. Once the connection is established, the ID:COM port will turn into yellow color which indicates that all the drivers required for Odin have been installed successfully. If ID:COM port doesn’t turn into yellow color, install samsung USB drivers and KIES latest version.
- Now, click on the OPS and “one package” option and select the files as shown below.

- After selecting the files as referred above, click on ‘Start’ button and wait for few minutes. Now, your mobile will restarts automatically indicating that the process of firmware update has completed successfully. Now, turn off your mobile and make it start to enter into recovery mode. In order to enter the recovery mode, press T button and power button simultaneously.
- After the device is in recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option.
