- Once your phone is in downloading mode, just connect it to the PC (or Laptop) using the USB cable. The ID:COM block will turn into yellow now, which indicates that all the necessary drivers have been installed successfully in the computer. Make sure that all the antivirus softwares and firewalls are in non-activation stage. Don’t open the KIES until the process of firmware update is completed.
- In the Odin tool, click the option of PDA and select the tar file as given below.

- After selecting the tar file as shown in the above screenshot, just click on the ‘Start’ button to and it will initiate the updating process. The firmware updation process will take few minutes, so don’t interrupt the process in the middle. If the process is disturbed, then just start the process all over again from the beginning.
- Once the updation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically and indicating that the process of firmware updation has completed successfully. So, now turn OFF your mobile and ON it back again to enter into the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, press volume UP key and OK button along with the Power button simultaneously. Refer to below video to know how to turn ON your phone in the recovery mode.

- Once your phone is in recovery mode, choose the options like wipe data/factory reset and Wipe Cache partition. This is because, in the process of firmware update, some of the cache files will generates in order to damage the applications of your phone. So, to avoid any such damage to your phone we need to clean up all the cache files from the phone. To clean all the cache files just use the options above and also refer to the above video tutorial. After clearing all the cache files form the phone, reboot it now using the option ‘reboot system now’, and enter the language preferences and the Google account preferences again so that your phone will be back into the normal mode.
