Procedure to Update EI22 Gingerbread 2.3 in Epic 4G:
- Before proceeding you need to download the Samsung Epic 4G Gingerbread 2.3 Package in your computer. Once it’s downloaded, you need to connect your phone in the mass storage mode to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase and then copy the downloaded zip file into your phone.
- Ensure that you have renamed the Zip file to the “update.zip” and not as “update.zip.zip” as windows tend to add an auto extension or else there is a high probability that the file may not be detected.
- Now, next up you will have to turn off the phone so that you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by holding the Volume Down Button along with the camera button and then press the Power button to boot the phone in the recovery mode. Its very important to get into the recovery mode, if you are unable to get into the same in the first attempt then you need to try again so as to get into the same.
- Now as soon as you enter into the recovery mode, you will now need to select the option of “apply update.zip”. After this, select file which is named as “update.zip” the one which you have placed in the phone. Once it’s selected, the update process gets started and after around 5 minutes, the firmware will be updated successfully and the device will get rebooted.
- So, in this way you have successfully updated your Samsung Epic 4G which is powered by the Sprint to the latest version of Firmware which is Gingerbread 2.3.5 version. To check on which firmware you are on your Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, then you need to go to the path Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will find the version of Android OS where it will show EI 22 as shown in the above screen capture. Please note that just in case if the device is not updated then you will have to again follow the instructions to apply the update.
