So to make things simple we have splitted this article into two different parts which are:
- Speed Mod kernel and Clock Wok Mod Recovery Installation,
- Procedure to apply Cyanogen Mod 7.1 update
Let’s proceed for the first step and then followed by the second method in the second page.
Installation of Speed MOD Kernel on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
- So, before you proceed to install the latest version of Cyanogen mod, you will now have to install the Speed Mod kernel in your phone for better performance and better overall speed with add on features like in built CWM styled recovery mode powered with the better overall battery optimization, all thanks to the EXT4 file system which makes it possible.
- So, first up update your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with the latest XXJVS 2.3.5 firmware version and then proceed to root the same for which we have provided the links below.
- So, once you finish updating the firmware to XXJVS and rooting the same you will have to download the Speed MOD Kernel Zip file in your computer and just unzip the same to get the tar file named as “speedmod-kernel-k15i-t13”. Once you download and unzip the same, you will see that there are two files which are the Odin and the Speed MOD Kernel tar file.
- Now, turn Off your phone so that then you can enter into the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button . Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the download mode. Please note that it’s not recommended to proceed if you are not entering into the download mode.
- Once you enter into the download mode, you will now need to open the Odin in the computer and then connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable which you have got at the time of purchase. Now, once you connect the phone you will see that the ID: COM section will turn yellow which will mean that all the drivers which are required for the Speed mod kernel are successfully installed.
- After this click on the “PDA” tab and select the tar file which is named as “Speedmod-kernel-k15i-t13” and once you select the same, you now need to proceed to click on the “Start” without changing / modifying any other settings in the Odin flash tool or else there is a high probability that you may end up bricking up the phone.
- So, it will take less than 5 minutes to finish the process of installing the Speed MOD Kernel. Once the process is completed you will see that the phone will be restarted automatically. So, once the phone is restarted then you will see that in the list of applications there will be an app called “CWM” which will mean that the phone has been rooted successfully and also the CWM has been successfully installed.
- Please note that just in case if you are unable o find the “CWM” application then you will have to download the ROM Manager application from the Android Market Place and need to install the same to get CWM capability.
So, now let’s proceed to the next page where we will see the procedure to update the Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with the Cyanogen Mod 7.1 ROM.
Procedure to apply Cyanogen Mod 7.1 update on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000:
- First up you will have to download the Cyanogen MOD 7.1 ROM as well as the Google Apps to your desktop. Once you finish downloading the same, you will now have to proceed to connect your Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 phone with the computer using the USB cable which you got and need to place these both Zip files into the phone as it is. Please note that you should not place this file deep inside any folder or else the file won’t be recognized and also you should not rename the files.
- So, once you copy the file, you will now need to proceed to turn Off the phone so that now you can then enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Up Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button . Just in case if the device boots in the normal mode then you will have to again try the process of entering into the recovery mode.
- In the recovery mode, you will now need to select the options like “install zip from SD Card” and select “Choose zip from SD Card” after which you will see many files which will be listed in the phone. All you need to do is to first select he zip file which is named as “” and then the Google Apps Zip file. Please note that you should not interrupt the process of update or else the consequences might be very dangerous.
As soon as you select the files, you will see that the device will be updated with the latest version of Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
