How to Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with ICS 4.0.3 RC2.1 Firmware

Procedure to Update Galaxy S with ICS RC2 Firmware:

  • Before proceeding, you need to Download the ICS Android 4.0.3 RC2.1 Package in your computer. After downloading, you need to connect the phone to the computer to copy this Zip file in your phone’s SD Card. Once you copy the same, you need to disconnect the connected USB cable.
  • After this, turn Off the phone so as to enter the phone in the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. In recovery mode, select options “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” to clear all the cache present in the device.

  • In the recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” and then choose the ICS RC 2.1 Zip file which you have placed in your phone. It will take up to 20 minutes for the update to get applied in the phone.

  • Please note that as soon as the firmware is applied, you will see that the device will again be landed in the Recovery mode screen. In the recovery mode, you need to select “++++ Go Back ++++” and then select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone. Please note that this reboot will take longer time than the normal reboot as it will be applying all the system updates in the first reboot.

Note: if your device is continuously getting restarted on its own then you need to repeat the whole process which is mentioned above so as to update the phone.

Wi Fi Kernel Fix for Galaxy S ICS RC 2.1 Firmware:
Just in case if you are facing issues with the WiFi then you need to install the Kernel Fix so as to fix the same. Its very important to apply this kernel.
