Pre Upgrade Instructions:
- First up you need to ensure that all the data which is present in your phone is backed up which includes all the SMS, Contacts, Songs, Videos, Images, APN Settings and also last but not the least the MMS Settings too.
- The best thing you can do is that you can move all the photos, songs, videos to your internal / external SD Card so as to ensure that the data is not either corrupted or lost. The other data like SMS and Contacts can be backed up by referring to the links which are mentioned below.
- Next up you also need to note down the APN Settings as well as the MMS Settings which are basically responsible for the internet access. Once you note down these settings, you can then re configure these settings in your phone once the firmware updation is finished. The APN Settings as well as the MMS Settings in your Galaxy S can be backed up from this path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.
- Please note that If you are not sure of whether the version you are On is XXJVR 2.3.4 or not then you need to head to the path from your phone which is Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will find the version of Android OS where it will show you the version as XXJVR 2.3.4
- Now, after this you need to ensure that the firmware on your phone is upgraded to the XXJVR 2.3.4 version and just in case if it’s not updated then you need to upgrade with the same. If you are not sure of your current firmware then all you need to do is to go to the path “Applications > Settings >About Phone” where it will be mentioned about the firmware version of your phone.
