Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 with Amestris Custom ROM:
- Before you proceed to the installation process you need to ensure that you are on the latest version of Gingerbread XXJVR and also you should ensure that you have rooted this firmware. Upon successful rooting you will see a super user application in your phone which means that the device has been successfully rooted.
- Now, download the Amestris ROM to your computer and place this Zip file into your phone to the root of your device and not within any of the folders which you can do by connecting your phone to the computer with the help of the USB cable.
- Now, when you see the Super User App in the skull shaped Icon, you will now have to next up open the “CWM” app which is nothing but the Clock Work Mod icon so as to grant the root access for the same.
- After this as soon as you grant the root access to the CWM, you will find a list of options which are shown in the below screen shot.
- Now, once you open the CWM, you will see an array of options. From these array of options all you need to do is to tap on the “Flash Update” option and then you will have to select the Zip file of the one which you have placed in your phone which is named as “Amestris_v3.0_JVR_OrangeMagic”.
- Once you select this, you will see that the phone will first turn off and then it will be switching On in the CWM Recovery mode to apply this update which you have selected. Within a time of around 5 – 10 minutes, you will see that the phone will be rebooted after this time and will take quite a while to display the languages option.
- On the language selection screen there will be many languages which will be listed, all you need to do is to select the language as per your need and then you need to tap on the same to confirm and after that you just need to follow the simple on screen instructions.
- For your added convenience we have also added some of the screen shots on how this all new ROM looks like on your Galaxy S. Please note that apply this procedure only on Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 and not on any other phone or else there is a high probability that you might just brick your phone.
- That’s it you have now successfully installed this ROM, now after going to the home screen, you will now have to proceed to press the power button and need to select the option of “Recovery” after which the device will enter into the recovery mode. In the recovery mode you will have to clear / wipe all the cache and need to clear the partition as this will clear off all the cache files. Please note that in any manner don’t proceed to clear the “DALVIK CACHE” as if you do so then it will wipe off all the crucial files which you may want to play with.
