Procedure to Update Litening ROM on Samsung Galaxy S2:
- Now, once you have followed all the instructions which are mentioned in the previous page which are Pre upgrade instructions you are now all set to proceed. So, now you will have to note that you are on the latest version of Firmware XXKH3, so ensure that you proceed to update your phone only after you have the XXKH3 Gingerbread version loaded on your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100. Just in case you are not on this firmware, you can follow the below link where you will find all the instructions to update your Galaxy S2 with XXKH3.
- First of all you will have to download the Galaxy S2 Litening ROM in your computer which contains both the Custom ROM File as well as the Odin flash tool which we will be using in the due course of the article on how to use the same. Please note that you need to make sure that you place this download file on your desktop so that it will be easier to locate the same. Just in case if you are unable to find the Odin then you can download and extract the Odin v1.85 from here.
- Now, next up you need to unzip the downloaded file preferably to the desktop, now after this you will have to put your phone in the download mode for which you need to turn your phone Off. Please note that in the process of the extraction, you will be prompted to enter the password. You will have to enter the password as “androidfirmwares.com” without the inverted comas. Once you enter the password which is mentioned above, the files will be extracted successfully.
- Now, next up, open the Odin in your computer and then put your phone in the download mode. The download mode can be entered by pressing down on Volume Down Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer the below mentioned short reference video if you are unable to enter into the download mode for reference on how to turn ON the download mode.
- As soon as the download mode is successfully entered, connect the device to the computer in which Odin is opened after which you will see that the ID : COM block will turn Yellow as shown in the below screen shot. Once it is done then it means that all the necessary drivers have been successfully installed and also you will have to ensure that his time that you have turned Off all the antivirus solutions as well as KIES.
- After this, click on the PDA tab to choose the tar file which will be there in the extracted files apart from the Odin, this file will be having an extension of .tar.
- After checking that the correct file was selected in the Odin as mentioned above, click on the “Start” to proceed and apply the update. After 10-15 minutes you will see that the update will be applied successfully but please ensure that you are not interrupting the process of firmware upgrade. Please note that just in case if at all the process is interrupted due to unavoidable situation, you will have to follow the above instructions again.
- Now, that’s it you will now see the home screen on your phone which will meant that the firmware have been successfully updated on your phone. Now, next up you will have to enter in the recovery mode so as to clear all the cache files which are generated while updating the phone as this firmware also corrupts all the existing applications present in your phone.
- Now to clear them up, you will have to enter into the recovery mode. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing the Volume UP key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. For entering into the recovery mode, you can also refer the below short video.
That’s it you have now successfully updated your phone to the latest XXKH3 based Gingerbread Litening ROM on your Samsung Galaxy S2 smart phone.
